I am currently in the process of migrating the content shared here to a series of new websites hosted at shirleytwofeathers.com.

As you explore this site, you may find links to a "page not found" instead of something cool and magickal. For this I apologize. I am very working hard behind the scenes to restore those pages along with a link to their homes on my new website where they can be viewed in full.

A Healing Bone Broth

Bone broth is the most accessible “cure-all in traditional households and the magic ingredient in classic gourmet cuisine, stock or broth made from bones of chicken, fish and beef builds strong bones, assuages sore throats, nurtures the sick, puts vigor in the step and sparkle in love life–so say grandmothers, midwives and healers. For chefs, stock is the magic elixir for making soul-warming soups and matchless sauces....

... I am so sorry to do this to you, but this post has been moved to my new website, Eating To Live, and can be found in its entirety here: A Healing Bone Broth

Doesn't help the animal the bones came from, does it?

No-one NEEDS to eat meat to stay alive and healthy. Protein is available in many other foods.

Stop encouraging such disgusting habbits. This is the 21st century. Catch up!

As the poster above states, I would like to go back to my vegetarian ways...kind of feel guilty but this stock recipe can be life saving to ourselfves & our pets.

I used this stock in everything, including boiling rice and pasta while she was going through Chemo & she needed a shot of Procrit red blood cell builder just once @ my insistence.

Marlene Dietrich drank this on the regular to supplement her hot beverages of coffee & tea.

I have the authentic German recipe from a chef named Klaus.

The secret? Egg shells are added. Drop me a line and/or search my archives @ http://sickitten.com

"Marlene Dietrich drank this on the regular to supplement her hot beverages of coffee & tea".

So what? Does that make it ok then? Maybe we should ask the spice girls for their opinion.

Wrong action cannot bring about right result.A house built on sand will EVENTUALLY fall.

Think about it.

Sickitten - thanks for the tip about egg shells!

Miss Costello - how do you know that the animal who gave his bones isn't delighted to live on in the bodies of those who whom it gave it's life?

Have you not heard the notion of the "give away"? That the buffalo and the deer were happy to "give away" so that the people might live?

What's lacking in this 21st century is the respect and gratitude that was once accorded to the animals, and yes, the plants as well, who gave their life essence so that we could live. It's not disgusting to eat meat - it is (or should be) an act of love and acceptance, filled with respect and gratitude for the sacrifice made.

And how do YOU Know the animals, buffalo & deer ARE'delighted'to have their lives stolen, bones ripped out, cooked and finally crunched by some appreciative human? Yum Yum!

What is'lacking'in this 21st (so called)'civilized' century is for people like you to stop spouting such patronising waffle.

NO ANIMAL IN THIS DAY & AGE SHOULD HAVE TO DIE by sacrificing its precious 'life essence' in order to end up as a plate of roast dinner. That isn't one of your cute little tickety boo 'notions'-it's a fact.I have a diploma in nutrition.Do you?

I notice you don't put your name to your comment. It's not Dr. Doolittle by any chance, is it?
